Wat Phai Lom (Phia To)

Wat Phai Lom was founded in 1770. 5 years later the founder of the Kotchaseni, Phraya Jeng, completed the construction.

This was the period just shortly after the fall of Thailand’s once significant capital Ayutthaya. The Mon community that lived in Ayutthaya settled in Pak Kret and made it their new home.

In order to get there, you have to visit Nonthaburi (just north of Bangkok) and take a small ferry to cross the Chao Phraya river. The ride across the river takes less than 60 seconds and once there, you’ll easily find Wat Phai Lom. This is the island Ko Kret, and it’s famous for it’s pottery too.

It’s a very quiet and small temple, not much is happening here.

Between November and May, you might spot some Asian Open-bill storks here (a species of birds), that migrate here from India to lay their eggs here.
